Dolphin fish (Coryphena hippurus)

  • Description: Front gibbous (very high in males). Start sternal flap in the head. Tail forked, forming a thin crescent. Blue-green back, silver sides with blue dots. The males have bright blue and yellow hues.
  • Size: Up to 1 meter.
  • Diet: carnivorous species. Eat almost anything.
  • Temperature: 20 to 24 º C.
  • Habitat: Pelagic. It is a fast swimmer. Normally inhabits temperate waters but also in subtropical environments, such as the Mediterranean, but in summer when water temperature is higher.
  • Maintenance: Easy. Although you need fairly large tanks where it has room to swim well.
