Coris julis (Coris julis)

  • Description: Elongated body. This species has a marked sexual dimorphism in the livery of the fish.  The males have the first dorsal fin rays higher, with a male black and red lined turquoise. Center line bright orange zig-zag. Back blue-green, a long black males and on the flanks. The females are brown dorsally, with a line thin and irregular white. Orange-yellow belly, a sometimes white.
  • Size: 15 - 20cm.
  • Diet: Accepts most types of food. Scales prawns, mussels, squid, pellet.
  • Temperature: 15 -22 º C.
  • Habitat: Lives in rocky coastal and grassland.
  • Maintenance: Low Difficulty. When introduced by first stressed or something is buried, this is a natural behavior.
